Sometimes when a team is heavily favored as the Magi were this past Friday you see let down in the team, but that wasn’t the case for the Magi on this rain soaked Hallow Eve Eve as the Magi completely dominated St. Joseph Michigan Lutheran. I attended the game but have to confess to leaving a little early due to the heavy rain. At the time the score was 45-0 and I don’t thing St Joe’s had a first down yet. The win propels the Magi into a showdown with Pittsford next week here in Colon so lets see if we can continue the good turnouts.
The more I watch this Magi squad the more impressed I become. The quarterback Brendon Shallack ran for over 200 yards on just 12 carries. That averages out to more than a first down per carry. His 70 yard run late in the game was one of the most exciting plays I have witnessed all year, and believe me, there have been many. Coach Henley has done a marvelous job with this squad and certainly deserves our support next week.
Now, on the subject of next weeks game lets take a look at our opponent, The Pittsford Wildcats are 6-3 entering this game, 3-2 in the division. One of those losses came at the hands of the Magi way back on Sept 3 (Magi won 34-14). They are coached well by Bob Clement and are coming off a big win themselves (36-0) over Eau Claire.
This will be the first time Colon has hosted a District Final game and it should be a good one, let’s see if we can be the 12th man on the field next week for the Magi and pack the stands.
