Meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by Chairman Smigla.
Pledge of Allegiance recited.
BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Dan Smigla, Jim Bidwell, Marilyn McManus, and Sharon Craun. ABSENT: Sandra Jackson.
OFFICERS PRESENT: Fire Chief Matt Overholt, Rescue Captain Todd Wadsworth, Training Captain Tom Talbot and Equipment Captain Keith Bower. ABSENT: Assistant Fire Chief Dave Webb.
AGENDA: Approved as presented.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM PREVIOUS MEETING: Minutes of regular meeting August 12, 2015, approved as presented.
FINANCIAL REPORT:
Financial report given by Craun.

Bills in the amount of $ 6,284.41 and authorize Sharon Craun to request bank balances for the COLON COMMUNITY FIRE AND RESCUE BOARD from banking institutions approved on motion of McManus second by Bidwell.
FIRE AND RESCUE REPORTS:
1. FIRE CHIEF: Overholt announced next pancake breakfast will be November 8th. Approval was given by motion of Craun second by Bidwell to send Talbot, Wadsworth and Bower to Officer Training Class December 5th at Three Rivers at a cost of $700 per member. Overholt reported grant has been approved from Michigan Gas, amount of grant not yet known. 30 calls answered for August. Poortenga has installed ice/snow stops on the roof of fire barn. Boiler repair possibly to commence next week.
2. ASSISTANT FIRE CHIEF: Webb Absent.
3. RESCUE CAPTAIN: Wadsworth reported narcam meds may be paid by Medical Control Authority, still no clear decision. State mandated training will be held September 28th at the Colon Fire Barn and will include other invited area fire departments.
4. TRAINING CAPTAIN: Talbot reported all fire department members have been certified for driving. Tuesday the chicken barns on M-86 will be toured. No response received for the Walmart grant. The department hosted the community of mental health children, a fire prevention video was viewed and all had fun inspecting the fire trucks. Talbot is working to plan training classes for the 2016/2017 year.
5. EQUIPMENT CAPTAIN: Bower reported several trucks needed various repairs: 925 – needs new ground sweep and 921 – exhaust malfunction overheated truck and perhaps melted a battery. Approximate cost to repair $400 for pipe, $150 for parts and $150 for new battery. 916 – new tanker has possible crack in tank. Truck will need to be driven to South Haven for inspection. All cost will be paid under the warranty. 926 – turn signals not working, no estimate yet for cost.
All SCBA masks passed testing as well as all ladders. All pumps passed testing except the 921truck which was out at service.
OLD BUSINESS: None
NEW BUSINESS: First 2016/2017 budget meeting set for Tuesday, September 15th with Overholt, Smigla and Craun to attend.
