The Special Meeting of the Board of Education of Colon Community Schools was held on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 and was called to order at 6:01 p.m. in the Colon High School Media Center.
The September 3, 2013 Special Meeting Agenda was approved with the following addition, Section IV-Item C-District Updates.
Comments and Concerns of Community Members
A community member encouraged the board in their search for a new superintendent.
Written Correspondence
A thank you was received from a staff member for the beginning of the year flowers.
District Updates:
High School- Ms. Swartz presented a new technology agreement, reported on the Beginning of the year picnic, a great first day, and thanked the board for the flowers, and the maintenance staff on how great the buildings looked. Elementary School-Mr. Miller also thanked the board for the flowers and the maintenance staff. He also reported of a good first day.
District-Mr. Baker gave a progress report on the Athletic Building addition. He also reported that the visit from the State Superintendent scheduled for October 23 had been cancelled and that Colon will be hosting the SJCSBA meeting on October 1.
Board Discussion
Discussion of Superintendent Options: Mr. Baker presented the options the board has in their superintendent search.
Board Action:
To allow the board president to negotiate a contract with Dr. Jay Newman as interim superintendent.
Meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
